VFS Jalandhar Canada Passport Stamping Time: About 14 Days (Oct 2026)
If you handed your passport in at VFS Jalandhar after your Canadian visa was approved, the latest numbers are good news. For passports handed in from 31 August to 27 September 2026, half were sent back within 14 days. In August, half took 22 days.
Jalandhar is the busiest Canadian visa centre in India. In the last 30 days VFS Jalandhar sent back 4,379 passports by Blue Dart, more than any other centre. So if you are waiting on a Jalandhar passport, you are in the biggest queue in the country. Even so, it moves at much the same speed as everywhere else.
These figures come from Blue Dart's public tracking, last updated on 21 October 2026. The wait is counted from the day you hand your passport in at VFS (the date at the start of your tracking ID) to the day VFS sends it back by Blue Dart. Jalandhar tracking IDs start with the letters JU. You can see the centre's numbers updated every morning on the Jalandhar page.
Jalandhar: the last two four-week periods
| Handed in at Jalandhar | Passports | 1 in 10 back within | Half back within | 9 in 10 back within |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 August to 30 August 2026 | 3,507 | 11 days | 22 days | 26 days |
| 31 August to 27 September 2026 | 3,646 | 12 days | 14 days | 20 days |
Three things stand out.
- The middle fell a lot. Half of August's hand-ins took about three weeks. Half of the recent ones took about two.
- The slow tail shrank too. In August, 9 in 10 were back within 26 days. In the recent period, 9 in 10 were back within 20.
- The fastest passports did not get faster. The quickest tenth took 11 days in August and 12 days recently. The change came from the middle and slow passports catching up, not from quick ones getting quicker. So expecting your passport back in a week is still not realistic.
Volume did not drop either. Jalandhar handled slightly more passports in the recent period than in August, and the wait still came down.
What Jalandhar is sending now
In the last 7 days, the passports VFS Jalandhar sent back had typically been away 9 days. Across all centres in that week, 2,474 passports went out. Half had been away 9 days or less, and 9 in 10 had been away 13 days or less.
That is shorter than the 14 days for September hand-ins. One week is not a trend, though. Daily batches go up and down. On 12 October, all centres together sent 1,608 passports that had typically waited 14 days. On 19 October, 457 went out that had typically waited 11 days. Check the Jalandhar page to see whether this is holding.
Jalandhar compared with Chandigarh and Delhi
Many Punjab applicants can choose between Jalandhar, Chandigarh and New Delhi. Here are the recent hand-ins (31 August to 27 September 2026) side by side:
| Centre | Passports | 1 in 10 back within | Half back within | 9 in 10 back within | Typical wait, sent last 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jalandhar | 3,646 | 12 days | 14 days | 20 days | 9 days |
| Chandigarh | 2,392 | 11 days | 14 days | 20 days | 9 days |
| New Delhi | 1,573 | 8 days | 13 days | 17 days | 8 days |
Jalandhar and Chandigarh are almost the same. New Delhi has been a little quicker, especially for the slowest passports. The gap is a few days, not weeks. In August all three were slower together. Half were back within 22 days at Jalandhar and Chandigarh, and within 21 at New Delhi.
Before you plan a trip to a farther centre to save time, think about whether a day or two matters more than the travel. The comparison page shows the latest figures for all ten centres.
Why the wait came down
The data does not show why. The stamping is done by the Canadian visa office, not VFS, and IRCC publishes nothing about this step. What the data does show is that every centre dropped at about the same time. Two very large dispatch days, across all centres, came in the middle of it: 2,453 passports went out on 16 September and 2,650 on 21 September. After that, the waits for passports going out were much shorter.
What this data cannot tell you
- It only counts passports that VFS sends back by Blue Dart, roughly a third of the total. Passports you collect in person are not counted.
- It does not show visa type. Visitor, study, work and PR passports share one kind of tracking ID.
- It shows when a passport left, never why one is slow.
- Blue Dart keeps records for about 90 days, so the data starts with passports sent from 6 July 2026.
After VFS sends it
When the tracking shows dispatch, the wait is nearly over. Over the last 30 days, Blue Dart delivered half of these passports within 1 day and 9 in 10 within 3 days. 52% arrived the same or next day.
Across all centres, Monday is the biggest dispatch day. In the last 60 days, 9,500 passports went out on Mondays and 3,994 on Fridays. If nothing moves on a Friday, that is normal.
If you are handing in at Jalandhar now
- Plan on about two weeks, with room for three. Half of recent Jalandhar hand-ins were back within 14 days and 9 in 10 within 20. Add a few days for Blue Dart delivery.
- Do not count on one week. Even when waits fell, only 1 in 10 Jalandhar passports came back within 12 days.
- Do not book a fixed flight or job start before dispatch. The summer held at about three weeks for months, and nothing guarantees the current pace will last.
- Switching to Chandigarh will not help much. Its numbers match Jalandhar's. New Delhi has been slightly quicker, but only by a few days.
- If most passports from your hand-in date are back and yours is not, you are probably in the slow tenth. The data cannot say why. IRCC's web form is the place to ask, not VFS.
Look up your hand-in date on the Jalandhar page, or on the all-centres tracker, to see how many passports from your day are already on their way.
