About Canadian passport stamping in India

After IRCC approves a Canadian visitor visa, study permit, work permit or PR, it sends a passport request, and applicants hand their passports in at one of ten VFS Global centres in India. Every couriered passport we see, from any of the ten, leaves from VFS's operations in New Delhi, so the wait moves in similar batches across the country, with each centre a few days ahead or behind.

Canada passport stamping time across all VFS centres in India

We track Canada passports returned from all 10 VFS centres in India, 51,726 passports since 6 Jul 2026. Right now VFS New Delhi is the quickest (passports away about 12 days) and VFS Mumbai the slowest (about 22 days). Jalandhar returns the most, 24% of them. Most of them left on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The latest dispatch we saw was on 9 Oct 2026, and the newest hand-in date with a passport back is 7 Oct 2026.

Every number here comes from Blue Dart courier records: after the visa office puts the visa in, VFS sends the passport back by Blue Dart, and we read those shipments every morning. Your VFS tracking ID starts with the day you handed in your passport, which is the date the charts are grouped by.
